This family from Wilmslow wanted a grown up space where they could retreat in the evening. Their lounge hadn’t been changed since they moved into the house which was a new build. They came to me originally looking for some help and advice. Once we had discussed the project and they realised that I could take care of the whole lounge makeover, it was agreed I would manage everything required. Although this wasn’t a huge project in terms of building work, the family lounge makeover still involved some electrical work, plastering and decoration.
My starting point was the large photos of the children as the little boy had a lovely blue hat. The clients wanted a restful, muted scheme so I knew I would use mainly neutral tones but bring in the blue from the photo. The clients wanted to retain the fire so I had it clad in a limestone mosaic which picked up all of the muted, neutral shades used. New storage furniture was supplied and fitted, with some display shelves behind the sofa. I supplied new Roman blinds for the bay window, cushions for the sofa and two rugs. The electrical work involved getting rid of the wall lights and installing some downlights to accent the new seagrass walls and the lovely large photographs of the children.
The clients are thrilled with the final result and it is their retreat where they can have adult time in the evening – much required when you have small children!
